S. Ganesh Nayak was born on June 14, 1974, in Shiriyara, Udupi district. His mother, Seetha R Nayak, is a housewife, and his father, S. Raghuram Nayak, is an agriculturist and a grocery merchant. He has a total of 6 siblings, consisting of 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and S Ganesh Nayak is the youngest son among all of them. Ganesh Nayak completed his schooling at Halladi Higher Primary School in the years 1980–1987 and the 12th grade at National Junior College Barkur (NJC) during the years 1988–1990. He earned his Diploma in Engineering in E&C during the period 1992–1995 from Dr. TMA Pai Polytechnic at MIT Manipal.

Mrs. Shyamala Ganesh Nayak was born in Brahmavara on May 31, 1983. Her father, Upendra Pai BP, is an agriculturist and former hotel businessman, and her mother, Savitha U Pai, is a housewife. She has two younger siblings.

She finished her primary schooling at the Board School in Brahmavara from 1988 to 1995, and her higher primary was done at the SMS High School in Brahmavara from 1995 to 1998. Her pre-university and graduation were done at the National College of Jayanagara, Bangalore, from 1998 to 2003.
